Welcome, busybees
Salesforce unveiled Koa today, its first reasoning model, built on Nvidiaâs open-weight Nemotron and trained specifically for sales, marketing, and customer support work. The pitch is a direct shot at the frontier labsâ entire business model: no customer data required to train it, fewer tokens burned to do the same job, and an open-weight alternative enterprises can run without sending files and prompts into someone elseâs closed system. âWe have no idea what Qwen trains on,â Salesforce AI EVP Jayesh Govindarajan told TechCrunch, explaining why Nvidiaâs American, transparently-sourced base model finally made building this possible.
Meanwhile, Jensen Huang took a very different kind of call yesterday. Mid-panel at the All-In Summit, Trump phoned in live and told Huang the weekendâs AI safety warnings from Amodei, Altman, and Musk were âa hoax.â Huangâs reply, over speakerphone to a cheering crowd: âYouâre right. Weâre not going to let that happen, sir.â
Hereâs what happened in AI today:
⢠Salesforce built its own reasoning model specifically so customers donât have to feed data into OpenAI or Anthropic.
⢠Trump called into Jensen Huangâs panel and called AI safety warnings âa hoax,â live, on stage.
⢠OpenAI reportedly bought smartphone camera maker Glass Imaging for $300 million.
⢠Superhuman acquired YC-backed Fathom as productivity tools race toward agentic work.
⢠Microsoft published an AI âcode of conductâ telling its own models not to hack systems or trick humans.
âŚand a whole lot more that you can read about below.
⢠Salesforce Just Built the Model That Makes Frontier AI Labs Nervous
Salesforce unveiled Koa today at Dreamforce, its first reasoning model, built on Nvidiaâs open-weight Nemotron base and post-trained specifically for sales, marketing, and customer-support tasks. Salesforce and Nvidia didnât train Koa on real customer data at all, instead simulating customer service environments, complete with irate callers and sales reps closing deals, to generate synthetic training data. The pitch to enterprises is pointed: an open-weight model that canât leak customer data because it never saw any, uses fewer tokens than routing the same task to Claude or ChatGPT, and can be deployed inside a customerâs own security boundary. âOne of the reasons we hadnât done this before... the challenge has always been the lack of a pre-trained base model to start with,â Govindarajan said. âUntil Nemotron came along, there was no sovereign American pre-trained model that was available.â Notably, Salesforce isnât cutting ties with the frontier labs entirely, it also announced ClaudeForce, a new partnership letting customers use Claude as an interface while data stays inside Salesforceâs own systems.
⢠Trump Called Into Jensen Huangâs Panel and Called AI Safety Warnings âa Hoaxâ
While Jensen Huang was on stage at the All-In Summit in Los Angeles yesterday, he took a live call from Trump and put it on speaker for the crowd. The two discussed the weekendâs rare moment of agreement between Dario Amodei, Sam Altman, and Elon Musk that AI development needs to slow down. Trump dismissed it outright: âTheyâre just playing right in the hands of a lot of people that donât want to see it happen. That could be political people. It could also be China. And weâre not going to let that happen. Itâs a hoax.â Huang replied, âYouâre right. Weâre not going to let that happen, sir,â to applause. Trump also called opposition to new data centers a âhoax,â echoing a claim Y Combinatorâs Garry Tan has made, even though recent Gallup polling shows seven in 10 Americans oppose data centers in their own area, mostly citing environmental and cost-of-living concerns. The moment didnât calm markets: Nvidia shares fell 3.4% Monday, and a broader index of AI stocks dropped more than 4%, as investors weighed whether the safety controversy could actually slow AI infrastructure spending.

Skill of the Day
Make AI Show Its Work Before You Trust It
State Farmâs outside lawyers recently admitted AI helped put seven nonexistent case citations into actual court filings. The lesson goes well beyond legal work: drafting and verifying should never happen in the same step.
Ask the AI to list every factual claim, number, quote, and source in what it wrote. Youâll get a better result if you paste in the original source material yourself and specifically ask it to quote the exact language from that document, so you can search for it directly. If it hands you links, open every single one yourself and search the page for the claim. If the source doesnât actually back it up, rewrite the line or cut it entirely. One rule matters more than the rest: never ask AI to âfixâ a citation it invented. Go find a real source instead, donât patch a fake one.
Prompt of the Day
The Fact Audit
Audit this draft for factual risk. List every claim, number, quote, and named source I must verify manually. Give only URLs already present in the draft. Mark anything unsupported as DO NOT PUBLISH. Do not invent or repair sources.
Thatâs a wrap for today, busybees.
